Language Services

Language support services at ALS are focused on one goal: rapid, accurate conversion of information from one language to another. We consistently achieve this goal because of our integrated quality assurance mechanisms—the hallmark of the ALS approach. These QA mechanisms emphasize accuracy at the linguistic, contextual, and tonal levels to ensure that the true meaning of the information being translated is conveyed.

ALS’s language support services are divided into three functional areas: Translation Interpretation Localization

Translation

ALS provides high-quality multilingual translation services from or into any foreign language. The types of documents we translate include, but are not limited to:

We are able to provide quality translations in over 150 languages thanks to our extensive network of native-speaking translators who work only within their specialty areas. After the translation process is complete, the translated documents are thoroughly reviewed by equally qualified editors and proofreaders before being released to our clients.

Editing and Proofreading: To verify a translation’s accuracy, and to ensure that proper terminology, correct spelling and grammar, and cultural appropriateness and style have been achieved. ALS systematically edits and proofreads all translations. This service is also available for:

Transcription: ALS’s world class transcriptionists have years of experience transcribing such complex documents as records of court proceedings, conferences, and recorded meetings, interviews, and oral histories

Desktop Publishing: ALS experts can create print-ready documents from texts we have translated using any word processing or desktop publishing program or specialized formatting to meet client needs. Common published documents include, but are not limited to, manuals, books, reports, websites, brochures, and flyers.

Interpretation

ALS has the ability to provide each of the four main types of interpreting: Consecutive Court and Liaison; Consecutive or Simultaneous Seminars and Workshops; Simultaneous (for Conferences); and Telephone Interpreting.

All of our interpreters are highly qualified, and most are credentialed by international organizations, the U.S. State Department, or other accredited institutions.

ALS will provide the right person to help you interpret:

Interpreting Equipment (Booths & Headsets): ALS will provide the equipment necessary for successful simultaneous interpreting projects. For small meetings or in the field, we can provide a portable wireless system. For larger conferences and meetings, we can provide all necessary equipment, including booths, headsets, and microphones.

Voice Over is the art of rendering a voice in perfect synchronization with the images on a video. We can provide qualified voice talents in many languages, find the perfect voice for your movie or video project, and make all arrangements for studio recording.

Localization

Localization—the adaptation of software to specific international markets—is a critical component of effective translation services in today’s global environment. ALS’s software engineers are skilled in the full range of localization processes, including:

• Extracting source code and essential audio, video, graphics and embedded text files that require localization;
• Converting identified files to an optimal localization format; and
• Re-engineer the software product by integrating the localized files, recompiling a beta master, and comprehensively testing each phase to ensure full functionality and performance.
